So hard to say goodbye...

I used the previous quote at a graveside service recently. But then realized how true the quote is for life in general. For those who have seen their marriage end. Or those who have lost a dear friendship. It is true for those who have an estranged loved-one, and those who never got a chance to reconcile. It is true for those letting go of a dream and moving on. Yes, goodbye is hard. Sometimes excruciating. In the last few days before Jesus was arrested, tried and crucified, he prayed for the disciples, but his petitions were also “on behalf of those who will believe in me through their word” (you and me.) He prayed for our protection and unity. (John 17:11)

No matter what unfolds in life, you are not alone. You have those nearby – friends and family – and you have Jesus, who took time to pray for you. Peace be with you.
