"Comfort, comfort my people."
“Comfort, comfort my people. Speak tenderly.” These words could have been written recently, in the wake of natural disasters, words of hatred, threats of war and mass killings. But the words were actually written by the prophet Isaiah. God is speaking them. “Comfort, comfort my people. Speak tenderly.” That would indeed be an incredible gift to us all … to comfort one another and speak tender words to others. The prophet continues, “Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be brought low; the uneven ground shall become level and the rough places a plain. The glory of the Lord shall be revealed.” What if those are words of justice and peace? What if we lived as if those who need it are lifted up, and those who put themselves on a pedestal will be humbled? What if?
